
Steven Helmicki was an IPA Submaster 220lb. World Powerlifting Champion in 2003, IPA Submaster 220lb National Champion 2002, Held IPA World Record 198lb. Amatuer Total, IPA World Record 198lb. Amatuer Squat, IPA Men's Professional 220lb Submaster Squat and again broke the IPA Men's Professional Submaster 220lb squat World Record. He achieved Elite Powerlifting Status May 28, 1995 at the Iron Island Classic in Oceanside, N.Y. wearing a single ply Marathon squat suit, weight walked back in the squat, single ply Inzer Poly bench head flat, feet flat paused and unhitched deadlift to full lockout position with full controlled return to the platform. Mr. Helmicki was ranked by Powerifting USA 8 times in two decades from 1995-2003. He broke the top twenty in the squat in two weight classes, the highest being a number 17 ranking at 198lbs in 1995 and number 20 at 220lbs in 2002. The highest total ranking was number 22 in 1995. The highest bench press ranking was number 35 in 1995. He was inducted into the Buffalo Weightlifting Hall of Fame in 2005. His first meet was the 1992 USPF Hyattsville, Maryland YMCA Open
where he squatted 600lbs, benched 400lbs and deadlifted 620lbs. in the 220 lb class but weighing only 202lbs. First place finish and Best Lifter Heavyweight. Steven Helmicki has been a United States Weightlifting Federation Club Coach since 1996 and received his first training certification in 1983 as an Ultimate Club Trainer for Nautilus under the supervision of a Ph.D. Coach helmicki has been a USPF Referee since 1995 and is a National Referee in the USPF, AAU and APF. He was the USPF NYS Chairman for a short time and co-directed the 1999 USPF Master's and Submaster's Nationals at the Adam's Mark hotel in Buffalo, New York. It is at this meet that he established a life long friendship with the great Don Reinhoudt.
Coach Helmicki began his lifting saga with a DP vinyl and sand weight set and bench from a Brand Names catalog. It came with a Bill Grant covered booklet that inspired him to reside in the attic through extreme heat and cold to pursue his passion. It quickly resulted in him becoming one of the fastest kids on the East Side of Buffalo clocking uncorrected 4.5 second forty yard dashes.
In 2007 he founded Primordial Strength Inc. which was created with the sole intention of devising a lifetime system of training accessible to everyone. Conservatively 30,000 hours in and the entire system's infrastructure was introduced in manual form in early 2010 after significant testing. He has contributed to
ironmind's MILO,
EFTS.com and authored over 20 manuals and books on strength training.
He has trained athletes and teams on all levels since he was in high school as well expanded his work to middle age, youth and geriatric populations in order to perfect compression of strength mortality as well as athletic maximization over the lifespan.
